How Do I know I Am An Evidenced-Based Practitioner/Lifelong Learner? This session will explore the issue of lifelong learning and the subset of evidence based practice. There will be a chance for the audience to participate and add the sources they use for life long learning and evidence based practice. The presenter will also provide material from research work done in the Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care on this issue. The sources that will be developed will be those people who help us with this task, the electronic resources now available and the books/journals/paper sources we use to keep us up to date. Bruce Arroll combines a long-term interest in evidence-based health care with general practice. A University of Auckland graduate, he spent time in Canada as a general practitioner and in completing a masters' degree in clinical epidemiology at the University of British Columbia. This led to a PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Auckland and joining the Department of General Practice and Primary Healthy Care. He has contributed to four Cochrane Reviews, and is a chapter editor for BMJs Clinical Evidence. As a general practitioner, his interests include reducing the use of antibiotics in viral respiratory infections, delayed prescriptions, screening for lifestyle and mental health issues in primary care, and a passion for teaching undergraduate medical students. |
