The session on wound management will cover commonly encountered wounds in Primary Health Care and include a discussion on wound infection and why some wounds fail to heal. The use of cost effective products for Primary Health Care will also be included. Biography: As a Nurse Practitioner Jenny has been in Primary Health Care for the last 6 years. Initially she had her own company and a 3 year contract to provide wound clinics to local PHOs (Primary Health Organisation). When the funding was not renewed she took up employment with an NGO and also worked one day a week providing strategic leadership for MidCentral DHB wound service. She also works one day a week in post graduate nursing studies at Massey. Jenny has been in wound care (tissue viability) for about 18 years, first in the UK and then in New Zealand. She wrote the first post-graduate course in Wound Management in New Zealand and recently resigned as President of the New Zealand Wound Care Society after 4 years in the role. She is Chair of the Nurse Practitioners of New Zealand group. |
